Our partnerships with Ricoh, Policrom Screens and Konica-Minolta
Over the years we have made virtuous partnerships with prestigious Italian and international brands. What connects Valiani with important companies such as Ricoh, Policrom Screens and Konica-Minolta is a solid and lasting relationship, which over time has brought mutual satisfaction.
This is particularly evident in the eyes of those who participated in the most important trade fairs in the sector, such as Drupa 2016, which is the topic of the article below, where our plotters were present within the stands of these important brands.
Particularly appreciated by our partners are the flexibility of our machines and their ability to integrate perfectly with their range of products, responding to the specific needs of their customers.
But let’s let our partners explain it directly: you can find their words on the Italia Publishers article published in March 2016, which we report in full below.
The Tuscan manufacturer at Drupa enters prestigious collaborations: with 5 cutting plotters on the mega stands of Konica Minolta, Policrom Screens and Ricoh
Italian digital cutting by Valiani, a protagonist at Drupa between the sheet and wide format
Among the most evident revolutions that emerged from Drupa, a show that has always been closely linked to traditional graphic arts, there is that of sheet-fed printing, a now highly digitized sector, in which the inkjet is gaining substantial market segments alongside toner and Electro Ink. An extremely favourable context for new forms of finishing, both in large volumes and in medium and small print runs and in prototyping processes.
This application segment is obviously accompanied by wide-format digital finishing. We think of the value of an exclusive process for a store, a private or corporate event: special packaging or a kit of personalized folders for a congress. Here, with a medium production printer, whatever the format, a compact and inexpensive digital finishing solution can open exciting possibilities for printers that produce small and medium print runs.
At Drupa we drew inspiration from the applications created thanks to the Valiani cutting plotters on the Ricoh and Konica Minolta stands, which took advantage of the cutting and creasing possibilities for small paper converting applications, as well as on the Policrom Screens stand, specialized in sheets for offset printing. Valiani presented two different series of flat plotters, both available in three different sizes: the economic Ultra V, with a single interchangeable tool head, perfect for processing materials of up to 100x150cm and up to 5mm thick, and Optima V, more powerful and faster, capable of cutting and creasing in the same operation thanks to a double tool head, with two tools fitted. This makes it ideal for small and medium batches in sizes up to 123x250cm, with thicknesses of up to 20mm if the optional oscillating blade head is fitted.
Two series of cutters for the most diverse applications, from packaging to printing, and up to wide-format.
The Italian Policrom Screens demonstrated how a Valiani Ultra V 150 plotter could improve the quality of spot painting. “When the offset printer has to paint with reserve, as in the case of packaging, it often engraves manually, with the risk of damaging the plate” explains the owner Federica Bisutti. “For this reason, we researched with Valiani, for a version configured to make painting plates with reserve. The result is so satisfactory that some are considering the idea of using our plates together with the Valiani plotter to paint ultra-thin details instead of the photopolymer plate”.
Equally satisfied with the Valiani partnership is Giacomo Rocchi, marketing manager of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Italia: “Our strategy, sanctioned by the recent entry into industrial printing, wants to offer the market of graphic arts professionals a series of solutions aimed at expanding the business towards high-value production.
The printing applications presented at Drupa exemplify this concept in the most varied of areas, combining the quality and speed of printing of Konica Minolta systems with the possibility of using different supports and integrating workflows with the most advanced finishing and cut-out systems offline. For the production of POP materials and packaging we have chosen to collaborate with Valiani, combining our wide-format systems with the Optima V 80 cutting plotter”.
Interview with Angelo Mandelli, Product Manager, Ricoh Europe
“We chose Valiani solutions because they are flexible, related to our product portfolio and close to our international target.”
How did the collaboration between Ricoh Europe and Valiani come about?
The relationship with Valiani is part of Ricoh’s global strategy regarding its partnerships: we have chosen the Italian company for its flexible solutions, their relevance to our product portfolio and their versatility in combination with both the sheet-fed and wide-format printing. We consider Valiani cutters to be an international product, not least because of their proximity to the type of investment that our customers are used to facing to integrate their Ricoh machine.
How does this combination work?
Over time we have built up a network of « certified » international partners. In real terms, this means that if one of our customers asks us for advice on creating an application, we evaluate which of the solutions validated by Ricoh can meet the need. In the context of the consultancy relationship we have with the customer, we suggest the partner company or even the product that could be right for them, regardless of whether or not this is in our list, as in the case of Valiani. We are excited about this combination, to the point that Valiani machines are also installed in our European demo centre in Telford in the UK.
What are the key applications for Valiani cutters with Ricoh printers?
At Drupa we combined a Valiani Optima V 160 with the Ricoh Pro C7100X and the Ricoh Pro C9100, demonstrating the potential of our sheet-fed printers to produce high-quality packaging, especially if accompanied by the refined cutting and creasing system. We then multiplied the already numerous applications achievable with our Ricoh Pro L4100 latex series with Valiani Mat Pro Ultra V 80.
